Our Personalized Services:

   -Comprehensive Chiropractic Examinations

The chiropractic examination includes spinal examination, as well as Chiropractic Orthopedic and neurological tests. A non-invasive computerized spinal examination (MyoVision surface electromyography) will be performed to measure and locate the areas of muscle tension associated with misaligned vertebrae in your spine.
Should the results of your examination indicate the need for radiographic pictures of your spine, the doctor is equipped to perform a complete chiropractic radiographic evaluation.

Massage Therapy

Our Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) is Dottie Davis she is a graduate of Southeastern School Of Neuromuscular Massage. She specializes in deep tissue massage.

-Wide Variety of Physiotherapy Treatments
At Robeson Family Chiropractic we offer a complete rehabilitation program. We start with basic stretch and resistance exercises and graduate with plate resistance machines. The plate machines are top of the line in Physiotherapy and include cervical rehab, low back and abdominal rehab, and multi-hip plate machines. Our program is written by Dr, Robeson and is specific for each patients needs. We focus on stretching overactive (tight) muscles and strengthening inhibited (weak) muscles, this is done to enhance posture, increase range of motion, and prevent spinal problems.

We have two Intersegmental Traction tables to lubricate the spinal joints and gently and effectively reestablishes normal range of motion to your spine. They also facilitates muscle relaxation to significantly reduce muscle spasms.

We also have two Flexion Distraction/ Spinal Decompression tables (for more information scroll to bottom of page) . Flexion-distraction technique has become the most widely used approach to treating symptomatic disc injuries involving back pain and the often-accompanying leg pain. Flexion-distraction involves the use of a specialized table that gently distracts or stretches the spine and which allows the chiropractor to isolate the area of disc involvement while slightly flexing the spine in a pumping rhythm. There is no pain involved in the treatment.
Theoretically, the tractioning or distraction of the disc combined with isolation and gentle pumping of the involved area allows the central area of the disc, the nucleus propulsus, to assume its central position in the disc. Flexion-distraction is thought to improve disc height.
These actions move the disc away from the nerve, reducing inflammation of the nerve root, and eventually the associated pain and inflammation into the leg.
Flexion-distraction is applied in a series of treatments combined with adjunctive physiotherapy, supplementation, and home instructions. Eventually, specific exercises for low back disc conditions are introduced. Patients are evaluated and monitored throughout the treatment program.

Another therapy we use is Interferential current therapy. Interferential current is a treatment to aid the relief of pain and the promotion of soft-tissue healing.
Tiny electrical impulses are induced into the tissues in the area of the pain. Where these waves intersect below the surface of the skin, the low-frequency stimulation induces the body to secrete endorphins, which are the body`s natural pain-killers.
Most patients find interferential therapy to be very beneficial and describe the treatment as being relaxing and having a `pins and needles` sensation.
Ligament sprains, muscle strains and spasms often respond well to interferential current therapy.

We also use ultrasound to promote soft-tissue healing. Ultrasound massages deep tissue using ultrasonic vibration.

Our most popular therapy is the Aquamassage
• The client remains clothed and dry for privacy and comfort with no post-session clean-up of oils or contaminated water.

• The spray bar travels forward and back, massaging the full length of the body or easily selected to concentrate on a specific area.

• The water jets simulate a fingertip massage from the center of the body to the sides of the body. The force can be adjusted to suit the sensitivity of the client and with a consistency that cannot be duplicated by manual massage or other massage devices.

• The pulsating water jets can be adjusted from a relaxing 2 cycles per second up to an invigorating 10 cycles per second. The pulsation can be varied independent of water pressure for maximum effect and client sensitivity.

• The water temperature can be adjusted from approximately 90°F to 104°F using the electronic thermostat.

Spinal Decompression Therapy
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can Spinal Decompression Therapy Help My Pain?

Though each patient is different and no doctor can guarantee success, the clinical results of this type of therapy have been effective in 86% of patients treated. The common problems of many back conditions are damaged discs and poor spinal muscle control. Our treatment program addresses both of these core problems. The specially designed spinal decompression table creates a controlled unloading of the vertebra to decrease disc pressure thus increasing blood and nutrient exchange. This exchange of fluids is something the damaged disc desperately needs to help it heal from the inside out. Muscle strength, control and endurance can all be improved with other facets of spinal decompression therapy that include specific controlled exercises.

Will Spinal Decompression Treatments Hurt? Is it Safe?

Spinal Decompression Therapy treatments are one of the most gentle and comfortable therapies available. The treatments utilize FDA cleared equipment with proven safety and efficacy and have never been reported to cause injury. Most patients report a mild sense of stretch on their back or hips, and often fall asleep during treatment sessions.

Is Spinal Decompression Therapy New?

Although traction therapy has been around for thousands of years, Decompressive Traction is relatively new. Advances in equipment and procedures have dramatically improved effectiveness. Spinal decompression therapy is the most comprehensive program available, allowing the safe delivery of this previously hospital based therapy in our office. Continual improvements in the delivery system and regular updates in protocol keep spinal decompression in the forefront of non-invasive disc therapy.

How Long Will My Treatment Program Be?

It depends on the complexity and extent of the rehabilitation needed, however we typically treat between 12 and 20 times, transitioning from passive to active treatments as you respond. The treatment is administered over a reasonable timeframe and your response is continually evaluated. Further treatments may be necessary or a reduced frequency may be recommended at that time. The rehabilitative phase may include additional spinal decompression treatments, with spinal adjustments to enhance the results. Most patents are released from treatments after 8-12 weeks.

Why is Spinal Decompression Therapy More Successful Than Other Treatment Options?

Spinal Decompression therapy is a comprehensive program of the newest traction techniques and targeted "core" stabilization exercises with Chiropractic Therapy. In addition, we use other adjunctive treatments that have proven effectiveness in back care. It is this multi-faceted approach that makes the overall treatment so effective. Additionally, discs have been shown to be a predominate site of pain, so treating it as directly as possible makes sense. The blending of focused traction of the site, rehabilitation to the supporting structures, and overall strengthening of global musculature makes the treatment unique. Spinal decompression therapy affects the disc as directly as possible without surgery.

Why the Need for Exercises and Other Therapies?

Along with the damage in the disc, we also need to treat the supporting spinal muscles. A complete program targeting the function of the stabilization muscles is a vital part of spinal decompression therapy. Heat, muscle stimulation, and cold laser therapy can offer additional benefits for inflammation and spasm reduction. Our hope is not only to help heal the disc but enhance muscle control and support of the low back. A gradual breakdown of the foundational support of your back is what puts undue stresses on the discs and leads to pain and loss of function. Exercise and adjunctive therapies will assist in rehabilitating these structures.

Will My Pain Go Away For Good?

Although it is difficult to predict the future, our experience is that most patients do find long-term relief or effective management of their pain when they complete the entire program of treatments. Regular home exercise and periodic visits to our clinic will help in maintaining your spinal health and reduce the probability of reoccurrence. As with any comprehensive rehabilitation program, your continued home care exercises and discretion in some daily activities is the key to long-term relief.

How Much Will it Cost?

Our office visits vary as to the extent of care needed. However we promise to only do those procedures necessary for your fullest recovery. Our office does not prescibe treatment plans over twelve treatments at a time. Regular reevalutaions are done after tweve treatments to be sure our treatment plan and goals are progressing. As a result we can recommend a frequency of care, but not lenth of care. There is no "cooky cutter" approach! You always have the choice to the extent or discontinueo care. Our staff will review all costs, payment options and insurance coverage up front which is usually paid per visit. We want to help and believe finances shouldn’t stand in the way of you and good health.
